A man rammed a police vehicle before taking off Friday afternoon, according to the Chandler Police Department.
Officers with the Gang Unit were attempting to make a traffic stop on the suspect's vehicle, but he crashed into the police car and drove away, according to a police spokesman.
The suspect, 25-year-old Marvin Smith Jr., ditched the vehicle near McQueen and Ray roads and then ran away, police said.
Police locked down the area while they searched for the suspect. Smith was apprehended shortly before 5 p.m., officials said.
No officers were injured in the collision, police said.

Smith is being charged with aggravated assault, reckless driving, hit and run, endangerment, possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
