CHANDLER, AZ — Police announced the arrest of a 54-year-old woman in connection to a hit-and-run crash in Chandler that killed a man and his 12-year-old son Monday evening.

On Wednesday morning, police arrested Michelle Hagerman on two counts of hit-and-run and seized the suspect vehicle.

According to Chandler police, the crash happened near Alma School Road and Chandler Boulevard around 6 p.m.

Authorities say the man, 50-year-old Mohammad Misbah Uddin of Bangladesh, was confirmed dead at the scene and his son, Abdullah, was taken the hospital where he later died from his injuries.

A GoFundMe account has been set up to help the family.

"My family is still in shock from what's happened but we're grateful that whoever gave the tip to find out who did it....we're really grateful," said Mohammad Misbah Uddin's nephew, Irfan Uddin.

Funeral services for both the father and son were held on Wednesday, at roughly the same time the suspect appeared in court.

"We just want to know the truth and what happened and why," Irfan Uddin said. "We're not angry we just want to know the truth."

Investigators originally identified the vehicle involved in the crash as a dark-colored SUV that left the scene heading northbound after the crash, believed to be a 2012 to 2016 Dodge Durango.
