CHANDLER, AZ — Chandler police say a pedestrian has died after being struck by a car Saturday night.
Emergency crews were called to the scene near Elgin and Arizona Avenue around 9:45 p.m.
Police say the pedestrian, later identified as Rosario Ortiz, 41, was in a wheelchair and crossing Arizona Avenue at Elgin Street going west, when a vehicle driving south struck her.

Once Chandler firefighters arrived on scene, Ortiz was pronounced deceased.
Police say the driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.
Officials say speed, impairment or distraction were not the cause of the collision.
