CHANDLER, AZ — A student was arrested after a threat circulated around the Hamilton High School community early this week.

The Chandler high school principal sent a letter to parents Wednesday morning about the incident.

Chandler police say a parent reported a threat seen on Snapchat on Tuesday afternoon. Police began an investigation and located the student responsible, making an arrest.

“The student was identified and Chandler Police Department investigated, arrested the student, and determined that there is no credible threat to the school,” the principal's letter said. “This situation is a good reminder about the seriousness of fabricating these kinds of false rumors, which bring school consequences and criminal charges.”

Police say "the student had no means of acting on the threats," but charges will be filed against the student.

Hamilton High School is located near Arizona Avenue and Ocotillo Road, within the Chandler Unified School District.
