An email sent to Waymo riders, and confirmed by a Waymo spokesperson, states that "completely driverless Waymo cars are on the way."
In the tests, according to the email sent to people in the Phoenix metro early rider program, riders will be notified that the vehicle coming to pick them up will be fully driverless and that a "what to expect" button will appear in their Waymo app.

Officials say Waymo has been testing "fully driverless mode" since 2017 and are currently accelerating their efforts.
The email states that this move is the "next step" towards becoming fully driverless with their vehicles.
ABC15 obtained a copy of the email, which can be seen below.
