A wrong-way driver was stopped along Interstate 10 just south of the Phoenix metro area early Tuesday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, initial calls for the wrong-way driver came in around 2:10 a.m. A red Chevrolet Camaro was reportedly headed westbound in the eastbound lanes of traffic.
Within a minute of the original call, the driver pulled onto the shoulder near Queen Creek Road and was found asleep at the wheel by Gila River police.
The driver, 39-year-old Jorge Pantonja Dominguez of Tucson was taken into custody and booked into jail for aggravated DUI.
Fortunately, no collisions or injuries were reported during the incident.
