GILBERT, AZ — A Maricopa County Sheriff's Detective saved the day for a 3-year-old Gilbert boy who lost a key part of his Halloween costume.
When 3-year-old Liam Saucedo took out his "Woody" costume the other night, his family noticed something was missing.
"'Oh no, Liam lost his star,' so we were trying to find it, but the baby started crying, everything was hectic, it was getting dark," Krystal Saucedo, Liam's mother, said.
Saucedo looked everywhere with no luck. She eventually took to Facebook in hopes of finding the lost star.
"I was just hoping that if someone was walking their dog on the path or out for a jog and they saw it, that maybe they would return it and I would have a happy toddler," Saucedo said.
Maricopa County Sheriff Detective Jeff Dunst saw the post and realized Liam was one of his neighbors. He saved the day by bringing Liam and his twin brother brand new sheriff's stars, even giving the two brothers a tour of his police car with lights on and all.
"You know right now the law enforcement doesn't always get the best headlines and we just thought this is so awesome that he would do this for us," Saucedo said.
Detective Dunst saying he didn't do it to be recognized, he was just glad he could help out.
