Authorities are investigating a serious crash involving a police officer in Gilbert.

Officials responded to the area of Greenfield and Guadalupe roads Saturday around 8:30 a.m. after receiving reports of an accident.
Police say three people were injured and one person suffered serious injuries during the accident.
According to a Gilbert spokesman, witnesses told officers that a car ran a red light and allegedly crashed into the police patrol car.
The police officer and a passenger in the patrol car were taken to the hospital as a precaution, officials said.
Impairment is not considered to be a factor in the accident but an investigation is ongoing.
