Authorities were called to Cosmo Dog Park around 6 a.m. for a "death investigation," a police spokesperson said.
The victim, who has been identified as 56-year-old Toni Phearse, was found dead in a lake at the dog park, officials said.
Police say at this point in the investigation there are no signs of foul play, but it's unclear what led to her death.
"It doesn't feel real, to be honest," said Aaron Phearse, the son of the victim. "It just definitely, definitely doesn't feel like it should happen, or happened at all."
Aaron told ABC15 he last saw his mother around 8 p.m. on Saturday. He says he thinks she went to the park, which is ten minutes from their home, to walk around.
The park was closed Sunday while police investigated. It has since reopened Monday morning.
Police say an official cause of death will not be available for several months; until an autopsy and toxicology report can be complete.
