A 70-year-old woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison on convictions stemming from a 2014 wrong-way fatal crash on a Gilbert freeway.

Patricia Neal Murphy was sentenced Monday in Maricopa County Superior Court. She pleaded guilty in March to two counts of second-degree murder plus one count of endangerment.

According to authorities, Murphy drove the wrong way on Loop 202 before her car collided head-on with another vehicle on May 18, 2014.

The crash killed a Mesa couple, 25-year-old Michael Ruquet and 20-year-old Ashley Adea.

Murphy was severely injured in the crash.

Court records indicated her blood-alcohol content was 0.18 percent. A driver is presumed to be legally drunk in Arizona at 0.08 percent.
