MESA — Need some Friday night plans?
Patrons can safely celebrate the holidays at Digital Drive-In in Mesa with some classic movies like "Elf" and "Christmas Vacation," while benefiting a great cause.
The ALS Association Arizona Chapter is hosting "Holiday Drive-In" on December 4 with money raised going toward patient and family services, community outreach, and research.
ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease, is a debilitating disease that has no cure and is terminal. The average annual out-of-pocket expenses for ALS patients are nearly $200,000.
ALS Association representative Hannah Terhaar tells ABC15 that it's been more difficult to raise funds this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with most events going virtual. This is their first event that will bring families and the community together, in a socially distant manner.
Initially, the price of admission was $75 per vehicle, but the ALS Association has lowered ticket price to only $40 for one movie and $60 for the double feature. Snack bags, including popcorn, will be provided and additional concessions will be available too.
The drive in will be held at 1901 N Alma School Rd, Mesa, AZ 85201, which is located just north of the Loop 202 Red Mountain freeway at Alma School Road.
