MESA, AZ — Calvin and Hobbs, two dogs that were made Arizona-famous in 2018, have found a new "furever" home after they were recently surrendered to Maricopa County Animal Care and Control (MCACC) less than one-year after they were adopted, according to Jose Santiago, a spokesperson for MCACC.
The two dogs made headlines in May of 2018 after they were found stuck on top of a mountain trail in Superior. A county employee found the pups on Picket Post Mountain during a weekend hike, and carried them down the mountain.
The two were adopted shortly after their mountain rescue, but the pups were surrendered to the MCACC East shelter on April 17 because "the man who adopted had some health complications that made it harder for him to care for them," Santiago said.
On Saturday afternoon, MCACC officials sent an update saying Calvin and Hobbs have a new home. The best part? They're still together.
Please note, Hobbs' name is spelled "Hobbes" on MCACC's adoption website.
