A woman was killed Tuesday morning after her vehicle was rear-ended on the freeway.
Tim Case, public information officer for the Arizona Department of Public Safety, said the 61-year-old woman was driving a small convertible along the eastbound US 60 when she was rear-ended by an SUV near Stapley Drive.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. She has been identified as Cynthia Goralnik.
The driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
The crash closed the eastbound lanes of the freeway for about three hours. It has since reopened.
No other details have been released.
