Mesa officials are warning residents about people claiming to be associated with the city and attempting to gain access to homes in the city.
A spokesperson for the city’s Water Resources Department released a press release Thursday saying that a private company has been canvassing Mesa neighborhoods and telling residents that they are City of Mesa employees.
As a result, Mesa leaders are offering some tips to city residents:
- Mesa Water Resources won’t request to enter homes to collect water samples.
- If someone comes to your home and represents themselves as a City of Mesa Water Resources employee please call 480-644-4444 to verify their identity.
- Employees with the city’s Water Resources will be in a marked city vehicle, wearing a uniform with the city logo and carrying an identification badge.
- If you believe you’ve been a victim of this scam, or are suspicious about a person asking to enter your home, you’re urged to call the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211.
