Masked man uses pepper spray on Mesa mom, daughter

Mesa police have arrested a man accused of pepper spraying a mother and her daughter.

The incident happened on April 6, in the area of Country Club and University drives.

According to police, the victims were returning home when 35-year-old David Garcia ran up to them in a mask and pepper sprayed them both in the face. 

After using the pepper spray, Garcia allegedly assaulted the victims and stole a wallet. 

Police said one of the victims was able to pull the mask off Garcia and recognized him. 

Police later located Garcia at his house and he admitted to being at the scene. 

Garcia has been charged with robbery and assault.
