MESA, AZ — The City of Mesa is allowing residents not getting paid during the partial government shutdown to defer their utility payments.
Utilities can be paid after the federal government reopens and backpay is received, the city says. Once backpay is received, the customer will be able to make a full payment or make payment arrangements.
Those who want to take part in the opportunity, thanks to the city's Federal Employee Assistance Program, will need to provide a copy of their federal ID.
The city says all late fees will be waived and non-payment utility shut-offs will be suspended during the deferrment period.
If you'd like to apply for utility deferment in Mesa, visit the City Business Offices in person, contact Credit Services at 480-644-2241 or go online.
Government employees can also take advantage of these freebies and deals.
