MESA, AZ — The Mesa Police Department is investigating a deadly officer-involved shooting.
Authorities say around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, officers with the Tempe Police Department's Fugitive Task Force were conducting surveillance on a "known violent and wanted fugitive from California."
They followed him to Mesa, near Extension and Southern Avenue where they attempted to arrest him.
The Tempe officers claim the suspect posed a threat and opened fire, fatally shooting him. No officers were injured.
A firearm was recovered at the scene but it's unclear if the suspect pointed it at officers.
The identities of the suspect and officers involved haven't been released. Mesa police is investigating.
