MESA, AZ — Mesa police were involved in a deadly shooting Sunday night while responding to a domestic violence-related call.
The incident occurred around 10 p.m. near Mesa Drive and Main Street.
Police say they were called to investigate a domestic violence incident. A 42-year-old man involved reportedly broke into his ex-girlfriend's home before going to a friend's house.
Officers went into the home and found the man in a bedroom. He immediately showed a handgun and began firing at the responding officers. An officer returned
fire and struck the man.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials did not report any other injuries during the call.
