Woman escapes kidnapper in Mesa, police say

Posted

Mesa police are looking for a man who kidnapped a woman and then tried to sexually assault her Friday.

Investigators said the victim was walking along Alma School Road when the man pulled up next to her in a vehicle and then pulled her inside and drove away.

The woman told police that her kidnapper threatened to use a weapon, but she didn’t see one so she fought back and was able to escape. She suffered minor injuries.

Police said the man drove away in a newer model tan four-door SUV with leather interior and a new car smell. He is described as a white man in his mid-20s with a medium build, average height and with a clean-cut appearance.

"I'm not surprised. I was here when that happened, I just didn't witness it," said Bianney Morales, who works in the area.

Mesa Police confirm they pulled surveillance video from the place where Morales works to see if the predator was caught on tape.

"I think that's horrible, I got my wife and my daughter sitting right over there," resident Dorian Rose said.

Anyone with information is asked call the Mesa Police Department at 480-644-2211.
