The company that manages Old Country Buffet restaurants across the country confirmed this week that it closed 74 locations across the country, including one in Arizona.
There are four Old Country Buffet locations in the Phoenix metro. The only one that is affected by the company's restructuring is at Mesa Grand Shopping Center near Stapley Drive and Baseline Road, according to a company spokesperson.
The closures reportedly took place on Feb. 4.
"While we cannot predict future market conditions, the plan is to continue operating the remaining Ovation Brands' restaurants as they are financially viable," said Vice President of Business Development Peter Donbavand in a statement released through a spokesperson.
Those employees who lost their jobs will be able to apply for positions at other locations, the statement said. They will also be increasing staffs at those locations.
Scripps station, KGTV, reported Thursday that six locations had abruptly closed in San Diego county.
Ovation Brands was acquired by Food Management Partners in August 2015, according to a spokesperson.
Besides Old Country Buffet, they also manage Hometown Buffet, Ryan's, Fire Mountain and Country Buffet.
