MESA, AZ — Mesa police are investigating after a 28-year-old man was struck and killed while riding a go-kart early Sunday morning.
Police say the collision occurred at around 3:30 a.m. near Gilbert and Broadway roads.
The driver of the go-kart was traveling west on Broadway Road when it was hit from behind by a driver of a BMW, police say.
The driver of the go-kart was not wearing any safety equipment at the time of the collision, according to Mesa police. The vehicle also did not have any lights or flags to identify it on the roadway.
The driver of the go-kart was pronounced dead on the scene.
Officials say there are no signs of impairment on the driver of the BMW.
