Mesa police say a man rolled his vehicle in a strip mall parking lot hours after he was stopped by officers for tire damage.
Police and fire crews responded to the crash at a strip mall near Dobson and Baseline roads before 5 a.m.
Video from the scene showed a single vehicle rolled over on its side directly in front of a storefront.
Police told ABC15 that they stopped the driver in the area around 2 a.m. because he was driving on one of his tire rims, damaging his vehicle and the road. Police told him to change the tire or park the vehicle and say he did not show any signs of impairment at the time.
For some reason hours later, the driver hit the gas pedal -- still with just three functional tires -- and rolled the vehicle.
The driver was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries and police say he will be tested for impairment.
