An 18-year-old man is accused of threatening to kill his father after being told he could not drive his father's truck.

According to court documents, Javier Garcia was riding in the bed of his father's truck on December 18. His father was behind the wheel and his brother was in the passenger seat.

Garcia allegedly asked if he could drive the truck. When his dad said no, Garcia threatened to kill him and tried to reach for a rifle that was located on the back seat, police said in court filings.

The father pulled the truck off the road and the brother grabbed the rifle and hid it, documents said. The brothers then began to fight and Garcia eventually ran off.

Police later located him passed out from alcohol and meth use. Live rounds were found in Garcia's pocket, documents said.

He was booked into jail on charges of disorderly conduct, aggravated assault and underage drinking. He's currently out on supervised release.
