MESA, AZ — New questions surrounding how the Mesa Public Schools Governing Board is spending taxpayer money.
Documents obtained by ABC15 reveal the district overspent by more than $750,000 on administrative costs from 2018-2019 and administrators spent more than $1.2 million on "purchased services."
That is more than four times what they spent the year before. Financial leaders for the district directed us to their Chief Strategy and Information Officer.
Helen Hollands sent a written statement saying, "The Governing Board has voted to place Dr. Conley on administrative leave while it gathers, reviews and evaluates information of concern to the Governing Board. The district has no further comment at this time."
