MESA, AZ — Mesa police are looking for a woman who stole mail from a locked mailbox near 9th Avenue and Horne Saturday morning.
Security cameras caught the mail thief in action.
"Someone came in and they tugged on it and took some mail out and with the other camera I was able to see them kind of stash some of that away," said Alberto Nieto, the homeowner who had his mail stolen.
You can see and hear the burglar in the video breaking open the mailbox and taking the mail that was inside. Nieto says he is concerned about what the burglar may have taken and if he's this woman's only victim.
"Pretty concerned right, because I felt a little violated there, the mail is something sacred in this country and so I didn't expect anybody to kind of walk up to it and break into it, especially since I had a lock on it," Nieto said.
Mesa police confirmed to ABC15 the incident is under investigation.
