Police say a car theft suspect was injured in crash in Mesa overnight.

Mesa Police say a Chevy truck was stolen near Mesa Drive and Main Street early Saturday morning.

The suspect driving the stolen car would not stop for officers, so officers stopped following the car after some time.

An air unit followed the vehicle until it crashed near US-60 and Goldfield Road.

The suspect was ejected from the car and taken to the hospital, but his condition is not known.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says eastbound lanes of US-60 were closed after the crash, but reopened around 6 a.m.

Police say charges will be filed once he is released from the hospital.
