A woman was stabbed by a man after attending an alcohol counseling meeting in Mesa on Saturday evening.
Officials told ABC15 that a man, identified Sunday as 23-year-old Evan Sharp, waited until after the meeting ended to stab a woman who was also in attendance.
According to Mesa Police, the woman was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. After undergoing surgery, the woman is currently in stable condition and expected to survive her injury.
Mesa Police says it doesn't appear that the victim and suspect even spoke to each other at the meeting and do not know each other from outside the group. Both arrived separately, and it was their first time attending the treatment meeting.
The man was detained by other members of the meeting prior to the arrival of the Mesa Police Department. He was taken into custody Saturday night.
