QUEEN CREEK, AZ — A 3-year-old girl who was found unresponsive on the bottom of the pool on Friday night has died "despite life-saving measures," according to a spokesperson for the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office.
Firefighters responded to a home near Crismon and Queen Creek roads around 6:15 p.m. to find a 3-year-old girl was found unresponsive on the bottom of the pool.
MCSO says deputies performed life-saving measures until firefighters and paramedics arrived.
A helicopter was called to take the child to a nearby hospital, where she later died.
MCSO says detectives will take charge of an investigation into the drowning.
