Drivers in Queen Creek, get ready for a lot of construction!
Eight roads are getting a complete makeover, with four under construction right now and four projects on the way.
Over the past five years Queen Creek has added over 8,000 residents, which has many roads riding at their limit.
One of the major projects is on Rittenhouse Road from Sossaman Road to Queen Creek Marketplace. This stretch of roadway is designed to handle up to 17,000 cars a day, but right now it is averaging 19,000, according to officials. Crews are adding lanes, streetlights, and sidewalks and realigning the intersection which will nearly double the amount of traffic the road can handle.
Troy White, Public Works Director for Queen Creek, says the new roads will improve the quality of life for residents and bring more visitors to the area.
“The end result is going to be a new roadway and improved roadway that can handle a lot more cars and keep up with that growth,” he said. The project on Rittenhouse is set to finish in late February.
