A bicyclist was rushed to the hospital with extremely serious injuries after being struck by a car in a Tempe intersection Tuesday afternoon.
52nd Street and Broadway Road was shut down while crews worked to clear the scene.
The driver was reportedly traveling northbound exiting the Interstate 10 off ramp when the vehicle collided with a bicyclist traveling eastbound on Broadway. The I-10 ramp has also been closed as crews clear the scene.
Pooley said the bicyclist was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
