A Chinle man capped off a visit to his sick daughter at Phoenix Children's Hospital by getting drunk and causing a crash that sent two people to Chandler Regional Hospital, police say.
Court documents show just after midnight on Feb. 5, 27-year-old Craig Begay left Phoenix Children's Hospital, consumed some vodka and started driving east.
Police say Begay made it to McClintock Drive and Ray Road, where he went through the red light and struck another car.
The passenger in that car suffered a fractured left knee, pelvis, ribs and possibly a broken spine. The driver was also hurt, and both were taken to Chandler Regional Hospital.
Begay admitted to police that he drank two shots of vodka after leaving his daughter's hospital. A blood draw was done on Begay which revealed his BAC (blood alcohol content) level was .155
Begay faces one count of aggravated assault and two counts of endangerment,
