A Phoenix man is behind bars, accused of leaving the scene of a hit-and-run crash that left a pedestrian in serious condition.
Police say on Saturday night, the victim was crossing the intersection of Priest and Broadway roads when she was struck by a car driven by 26-year-old Darris Sean El Leonardo Byrd.
Thanks to an anonymous tip, detectives located Byrd's car in the parking lot of the apartment complex where he lives. Police say the vehicle had damage consistent with evidence from the crash scene.
Officers say Byrd admitted to detectives he was involved.
Byrd is facing a felony charge of failing to stop at the scene of a collision with serious injury.
