FD: Balcony catches fire at Tempe condo; 2 people rescued

TEMPE — Tempe firefighters rescued two residents from their Tempe condo after their balcony caught fire around 4:45 a.m. on Sunday.

According to the Tempe Fire Department, firefighters responded to a condominium complex located near University and McClintock after neighbors called to report the fire.

The condo's two residents were asleep when firefighters arrived, but were safely rescued from the home.

Around 50 firefighters from Tempe, Mesa and Scottsdale responded to the fire, and were able get the fire under control.

At this time, it is unclear how many people will be displaced following the fire.
