TEMPE, AZ — Four teenagers were taken to the hospital on Wednesday after ingesting prescription pills at school, a spokesperson for the Tempe Police Department said.
Tempe police say they responded to Laird Elementary School near McClintock Drive and McKellips Road around 9 a.m. for reports of several students under the influence of an unknown substance.
After talking to students and staff, police learned the students had taken an unknown amount of prescription anti-anxiety medication.
The teens -- three 14-year-old boys and a 13-year-old boy -- were taken to the hospital for evaluation, said Tempe Fire.
Police are investigating how and where the students got the medication.
