A homegrown Valley entertainer is preparing to play his first show in Arizona at Tempe's Marquee Theatre.

Cody Ballentine, who grew up in Mesa, tells ABC15 it's the most anxious he's been before a performance but a dream come true. Ballentine, who spent several years acting before deciding to focus on music, attended shows at the Marquee growing up.

"Three days after I got my wisdom teeth out, I was front row at the Marquee for the Authority Zero concert," he said.

Ballentine said he feels like his "most original self" on stage.

"I see where he is now and the growth of where he's gonna go," said friend and manager Bradley Davis.

Davis met Ballentine at the gym while both were attending Arizona State University. They remained friends, and when Ballentine chose to pursue music, Davis wanted to be a part of it.

"Music needs a little disruption with some emotion and some passion," he said.

Ballentine will perform at the Marquee Theatre on Saturday, December 16 at 8 p.m.
