TEMPE — Wednesday marks 18 years since the terror attacks on September 11, 2001.
Volunteers placed flags at Tempe Beach Park on Saturday in honor of the victims. It's called the "Healing Field Memorial," put together every year by the City of Tempe and the Exchange Club of Tempe.
They're encouraging parents to bring their children to teach them about what happened that day.

"We've taught them about what happened that day and just to be vigilant and proud of where you came from and our country," said Tana Dowell, who was volunteering at Saturday's event. "Hopefully that's enough for them."
