TEMPE, AZ — Police say an impaired driver may be to blame for a serious crash in Tempe Monday night.
Authorities say officers were called to investigate reports of an erratic driver driving eastbound on Baseline and Kyrene roads. On the way to the scene, officers received several calls saying a vehicle matching the same description had rear-ended another car at a high rate of speed near Baseline and Rural roads.
When police arrived, they found the driver of the "erratic" vehicle, David F. McMillon, had sustained serious injuries in the crash. Police say McMillon was not wearing a seatbelt when the accident happened.
The driver of the other vehicle appears to have sustained minor injuries, police say.
Police say McMillon was arrested and charged with hit and run, criminal damage, reckless driving and DUI - pending analysis.
