TEMPE, AZ — Tempe police have taken a suspect into custody following a barricade situation near Scottsdale and McKellips roads Saturday afternoon.
Officers say at around 12:37 p.m. they responded to a call of a person behaving erratically outside of an apartment complex. When officers arrived they located a man who refused to speak to officers and went inside his apartment and threatened to harm his family.
He then barricaded himself inside the apartment with his wife and three children and refused to let them leave.
Officers say Tempe Police crisis negotiators, a crisis response team and the SWAT Team were used to assist in the incident. Officers on scene forced their way into the apartment and took the suspect into custody.
All hostages have been reported safe following the incident and no injuries have been reported.
