TEMPE, AZ — A toddler involved in a crash near Southern Avenue and McClintock Drive on Saturday morning has died from their injuries, according to Tempe police.
According to the Tempe Fire Medical Rescue Department (TFMRD), they responded to a crash in the aforementioned intersection around 8 a.m. Saturday to find a vehicle had veered off the road and smashed into a light pole.
Tempe police say the vehicle was traveling westbound on Southern Avenue when the crash occurred.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, but was listed in stable condition Sunday.
The toddler in the vehicle was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and succumbed to those injuries Sunday morning.
The Tempe Police Department says impairment is being investigated as a factor in the crash.
