A teenager was rushed to the hospital overnight after he attempted to cross the street in Tempe and was hit by an oncoming car.
The 18-year-old attempted to cross University Drive and McCallister Avenue against the red light around midnight when he was hit by a vehicle traveling eastbound on University, said spokesman Mike Pooley.
The teen was taken to the hospital and is listed in critical, but stable condition.
University Drive is closed in both directions while police investigate, he said. Impairment with the driver is not believed to be a factor in the crash. Click here to view current traffic conditions.
