A person accused of stabbing another person in Tempe is now in police custody.

Authorities first received reports around 8 p.m. on Friday about a stabbing near Hardy Drive and Southern Avenue.

Police said the suspect was walking near that intersection when a suspect came up from behind and stabbed him on the left side.

According to Tempe Police spokesman Anthony Nardini, officers and police K9 were searching the area for the suspect, who was later found.

The victim was taken to the hospital and suffered non-life threatening injuries, police said.
