We all need something to brighten our spirits right now, and Desert Ridge Marketplace and Tempe Marketplace are helping us find the joy in a safe way.

Both shopping centers are re-hanging their Christmas lights and debuting them the night of Friday, March 20.

They say it will give families a reason to “get out of the house and enjoy something different from the safety of their own cars.”

A spokesperson for the centers said they’re the first Valley businesses to adopt the trend of putting up holiday lights to spread “light and hope in the face of COVID-19.”

Both shopping centers are still open and most businesses have chosen to remain open, with the exception of full-service dining options. They are “providing several hand sanitizing stations, clean and stocked restrooms, added employee training and ongoing and nightly sanitization of facilities.”

People around the country are putting holiday lights up on their homes and there’s a Christmas movie marathon also airing on TV.
