Several Valley law enforcement agencies are spending the morning doing some holiday shopping as a way of giving back to the community.
The annual "Shop with a Cop" event is a popular holiday happening that gives local kids a chance to hang out with officers, have fun and go home with treats for themselves and their families.
Tempe Police and Arizona State University Police teamed up Saturday with the help of ASU Fraternity and Sorority Life to host one of the local events.
Children were treated to a breakfast donated by Special Moments Catering and Events, a meet-and-greet with Santa and Sparky, as well as an up-close look at Tempe's SWAT team and a police canine--all before a Walmart shopping trip.
One child, a girl named Taylor, told ABC15 she was excited for the fun outing because it's something she doesn't normally get to do.
Peoria Police Department and Pinal County Sheriff's Office are also hosting similar events Saturday.
