AVONDALE, AZ — For the second day in a row, crews worked to contain a brush fire burning in the West Valley.
The Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management says the Agua Fria Fire burned through salt cedar trees in the river bottom near I-10 and Dysart Road starting around 1 a.m. Friday.
The day before, crews responded to the Gila River near ISM Raceway for a fire burning in the river bed.
Friday's fire burned an estimated 150 acres before forward progress was stopped.
The fire could be seen from I-10 and freeway cameras operated by the Arizona Department of Transportation.
The fire is also burning close to the same area as a fire over the weekend, which burned close enough to Interstate 10 to cause a temporary closure.
There was no immediate word as to how it started.
