AVONDALE, AZ — The Avondale Police Department is searching for a man who allegedly engaged in sexual conduct with a minor on Wednesday.

Police say the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. in the area of Donnie Hale Park, near 108th Avenue and Pima Street.

According to police, an older Hispanic male wearing a gray shirt and green shorts approached and engaged the victim in a sexual manner before running away on foot. Parents who live near the park told ABC15 the incident has them on alert.

"My daughter goes to school right at that corner," said neighbor Janis Schoen. "She won't walk home by herself again from school. Ever."

Another parent, who showed up for a night of sports with her kids, says she nearly didn't come.

"As a parent I was scared, because I have five little ones that run around while I'm coaching, so I was scared to bring them here," said Jessica Ruesch.

The man is described as being approximately 5’7”, chubby with brown hair and a receding hairline. The man was also described as having a beard with some gray in it, and teeth that were yellow and appeared to be “rotting.”

On Friday, police released a sketch of the man pictured above.

As a general safety rule, Avondale police suggest staying in groups. They encourage anyone with tips or information to come forward. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Avondale Police Department at 623-333-7382 or Silent Witness at 480-948-6377.
