A man is hospitalized and another is behind bars in connection with a shooting in Avondale.
Avondale police said officers received a call of a shooting at the Circle K at El Mirage and Lower Buckeye roads just after 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
When officers arrived on the scene they discovered a man who was shot. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition but is expected to survive.
The suspect fled the area after the shooting occurred, officials said. Just hours later, the Pinal County Sheriff's Office contacted Avondale police to identify the alleged shooter as Anthony Deshawn Washington.
Washington was arrested in Pinal County for attempted 1st-degree homicide, police said.
Air15 video showed Avondale police surrounding the convenience store with police tape in front of the store.
