Deputies are investigating after two vehicles collided near 113th Avenue and Indian School Road on Monday afternoon, killing one person.
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office said a vehicle traveling westbound struck a vehicle that was traveling eastbound. The passenger side of the vehicle traveling east was seriously damaged.
MCSO said the passenger was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries where the 22-year-old man later died. He has since been identified as Daniel Catalan.
Avondale Fire Department said two other people were also taken to Abrazo West Campus hospital, but as a precautionary measure.
MCSO says impairment is being investigated.
