Officials are investigating after several inmates assaulted correctional officers at ASPC-Lewis in Buckeye on Tuesday.
The Arizona Department of Corrections (ADC) said the assault happened during lunch at the Morey Unit. Responding staff were able to get the inmates under control, preventing the situation from escalating any further.
According to ADC, three officers were transported to an area hospital for precautionary reasons.
ASPC-Lewis is located at 26700 South Highway 85.
