BUCKEYE, AZ — A suspect is dead and another is in the hospital after an officer-involved shooting in the west Valley Sunday night.
Authorities initially responded to a shooting call between two people near Lower Buckeye and Watson roads around 6:15 p.m.

When officers arrived on scene, they found one victim, later identified as 21-year-old Jose A. Granados-Zuno, and transported them to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police were able to find the shooting suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jose Eduardo Flores, shortly after on a county island nearby. Buckeye police say Flores began shooting at responding officers, who returned fire. MCSO officials say Flores was struck during the exchange and died at the scene.
Road closures were in place for several hours Sunday night due to the police activity.

The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office handling the investigation, according to Buckeye police.
This is the second officer-involved shooting in the Valley Sunday. Earlier in the day, Glendale police were involved in an officer-involved shooting and crash after shots were fired at an illegal warehouse party located near 68th and Glendale avenues.
