BUCKEYE, AZ — Two people died in a head-on crash early Friday morning in Buckeye.

Emergency crews were called to the collision scene at Baseline and Turner roads after two cars collided head-on west of Arizona State Route 85.

Police say a white 2010 Ford Fusion 4-door sedan driven by 25- year-old Caleb T. Natseway, was traveling westbound on Baseline Road from Turner Road when he crossed the centerline and collided head-on with a black 2018 Volkswagen Passat 4-door sedan driven by 31-year-old Syrli Jovita Villegas, who was traveling eastbound on Baseline Road.

Police say Natseway was pronounced dead at the scene. Villegas was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her three passengers, two children and an infant, were also taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injures.

Witnesses to the collision said they observed driving behaviors before the crash that were consistent with the driver of white 2010 Ford Fusion, being impaired or falling asleep.

Excessive speed and/or impairment do not appear to be factors in the collision.
